Most Indian colleges and universities require 75% attendance to sit for end-semester exams; some professional courses like medicine and law require 80% or higher, and companies increasingly track workplace attendance for hybrid-work compliance too. Enter the number of classes attended, the number of classes conducted so far, the number of remaining classes in the term, and your target percentage. The tool returns your current attendance percentage, how many classes you can still skip while staying above the threshold, or how many consecutive classes you must attend to recover from a shortfall. The math is transparent so you can double-check any exam-detention warning your college portal shows. The math is unforgiving on the recovery side because every skipped class hurts your denominator once and your numerator once — but every attended class only helps the numerator. If you're at 60% mid-semester with the same number of classes still to go, you can't recover to 75% just by attending everything remaining; you'll only reach 80% at best. Model the number honestly early in the term instead of hoping it works out. The tool also handles a common "how many more can I miss?" question. If you're at 82% and the threshold is 75%, the calculator tells you the exact number of remaining classes you can skip before dropping below 75%. This is useful for planning genuine absences — job interviews, medical appointments, family events — without stumbling into a detention. Remember that many institutions also count medical leave separately (with a certificate) or grant a small buffer, but neither is guaranteed. Practical planning tips: track attendance week by week rather than checking once a semester, prioritise 100% attendance in courses graded partly on it (many colleges give 5% weight to attendance in internal marks), and factor in labs and tutorials separately since they often have their own thresholds.
