For lottery players, remember that every combination in a fair lottery has exactly the same probability of winning. "Lucky" numbers, birthdays, and hot/cold patterns have zero predictive value — the lottery has no memory of past draws. What number selection does affect is how much you'd split a jackpot with if you win: picking common combinations (like 1-2-3-4-5-6 or all birthdays under 31) means more people pick the same numbers and split any prize more thinly.
